Nokia 5530 XpressMusic

Nokia 5530 XpressMusic touch screen smartphone uses a scrolling 'people carousel' to view up to 20 friends' emails, phone calls, photos and social media updates

That 5800 XpressMusic phone Nokia's so proud of now has a variant: the 5530 XpressMusic. It's one of those 'the same, but different' jobs. Though perhaps a more fitting description would be 'the same, but with some 'good' syphoned off'.

You aren't left with a mere shadow of a phone, but rather one that's cheaper than the 5800 -- which is already free on sub-£20 per month contracts. It's got a 74mm (2.9-inch) touchscreen, a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera, 70MB of internal memory (it comes with a 4GB microSD card for storing music), a 3.5mm headphone socket, stereo Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and the usual roster of mid-range Nokia features. It'll also support MP3, AAC and WMA music (including iTunes Plus downloads), as well as basic MPEG-4 video.

Unlike the 5800, the home screen on the 5530 will multitask with contacts at the top, your favourite four apps at the bottom and a music player widget in the centre. The interface on 5800 makes users choose between favourite people and favourite programs, a choice that leads to many excursions to the main menu and mournful soul-searching for owners of the phone who decided a shortcut to Snake was more important than their buddies. Hopefully this firmware enhancement will be rolled out to 5800 XpressMusic handsets as well.

The handset also features a pop-up Media Bar to quickly access music, photos, videos, Internet and on-line sharing applications such as Ovi Share, Flickr and VOX.

Videos from social media sites such as Youtube and Facebook can be viewed on its 2.9-inch widescreen display.

The smartphone has a built-in music player with 27 hours of playback time and a 4GB memory card. Users can buy new music from Nokia Music Store.

Nokia said the 5530 XpressMusic will start shipping in the third quarter and sell for $280 before subsidies and taxes.

Nokia 5530 XpressMusic Specifications:

Nokia 5800 Navigation EditionNokia 5800 Navigation Edition

Nokia has announced the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition (5800NE) handset today. It also sports stereo speakers and surround sound, playback time of 35 hours, HSDPA connectivity and a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics.

The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition won't different much from the original Nokia 5800 XpressMusic except in color. The 5800NE will feature a silver, two-tone look.

The 640 by 360 pixel Touchscreen is going to remain, as will the 3.2 MPx digital camera, 1320 mAh battery, GPS, and Symbian S60v5 operating system.

The software side of the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition will be accented by the pre-installation of Ovi Maps 3 and a lifetime license for its voice-guided Drive and Walk features. Support for the Ovi Store and other third-party downloadable software will ensure that the 5800NE can interact with the same locations that it displays on-screen.

Due to its orientation as a navigation device, it is going to come with an in-box car charger and Nokia car kit for use in auto/boat scenarios.

Nokia N900Nokia N900

Nokia today officially announced the Nokia N900, the device is really a handset and runs on Maemo, a flavor of Linux for mobile devices backed by Nokia and Intel.

The N900 has a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard and an 800x480-pixel resistive touch screen. According to the man who let the cat out of the bag, the build quality is similar to the Nokia E75.

The device will also have a 5-megapixel camera with F2.8 lens, 32GB of onboard memory with a microSD card slot for up to 32GB (bringing the total capacity to a whopping 64GB), a micro-USB port, 1,320mAh battery, GPS and TV-out. The Fastest iPhone Ever

The first thing you’ll notice about iPhone 3GS is how quickly you can launch applications. Web pages render in a fraction of the time, and you can view email attachments faster. Improved performance and updated 3D graphics deliver an incredible gaming experience, too. In fact, everything you do on iPhone 3GS is up to 2x faster and more responsive than iPhone 3G.

Video

Images of the iPhone 3GS camera's tap to focus feature and the video camera interface. Now you can shoot video, edit it, and share it — all on your iPhone 3GS. Shoot high-quality VGA video in portrait or landscape. Trim your footage by adjusting start and end points. Then share your video in an email, post it to your MobileMe gallery, publish it on YouTube, or sync it back to your Mac or PC using iTunes.

3-Megapixel Camera

The new 3-megapixel camera takes great still photos, too, thanks to built-in autofocus and a handy new feature that lets you tap the display to focus on anything (or anyone) you want.

Voice Control

Voice Control recognizes the names in your Contacts and knows the music on your iPod. So if you want to place a call or play a song, all you have to do is ask.

IMPORTANT

  • BlackRa1n jailbreaks all iPhones and iPod Touch models
  • BlackRa1n jailbreak will work with the latest 3.1.2 firmware.
  • It will not hacktivate your iPhone. This means that if you are using an unlocked iPhone 3GS or 3G then stay away from it because BlackRa1n requires to update your iPhone to OS 3.1.2 resulting in updating your Baseband as well which means your iPhone will NOT activate on unofficial carrier.
  • Use BlackRa1n only if you do NOT care about Unlock (You’re on official carrier).
  • BlackRa1n also Jailbreaks iPod Touch 3G but it’s a tethered jailbreak. Which means whenever you would restart your Touch or it turns OFF because of empty battery then you will need to rerun BlackRa1n.

Samsung i7500 Galaxy

Samsung has issued a firmware upgrade for its first Android phonei7500 Galaxy. The update brings firmware to version I7500VIAIG6, but we’re not exactly sure what’s changed after you’ve hit the button. We do, however, know that we’re always for keeping our devices’ firmware up to date, and hence, recommend all Galaxy owners to proceed and make their smartphone run the freshest firmware possible.

You’ll need Samsung’s new PC-Studio software and all your data should remain intact, though backup is always advised. You’ll also need an Internet connection so that software could download the firmware file, which usually is not that small. If you notice and changes after the update, don’t hesitate to drop us a comment…

YouTube will share profits with users who post popular videos on the site, the company announced on its blog. By extending the YouTube Partnership Program, the company offers more individuals with one off popular videos a chance to earn thousands of dollars a month. In the past amateur videos on YouTube never earned a dime for the creator, even if they clocked millions of views. But YouTube is now rewarding authors of videos that keep YouTube popular and is offering to spread the wealth it generates with the authors.

YouTube will monitor the popularity of user-submitted videos and some users will get invited to start earning revenue through the Partnership Program. To determine with videos are worth it, YouTube will look at the number of views the video has so far and its compliance with the site’s terms of service (read no copyright infringements). Once the revenue sharing scheme is enabled on a user’s video, YouTube will do the rest of the work, selling advertising against the video and paying the user a share monthly into their AdSense account. This option is available only to users in the U.S. for now, but YouTube says is hoping to roll this feature internationally…

Czech company called Mivvy has launched its first Windows Mobile smartphone called Mivvy one. It’s the all-touchscreen device with features that include EDGE data, WiFi, GPS, 3.2-inch 240×400 pixels display, 3-megapixel camera, FM Radio, 128 MB RAM coupled with 256 MB ROM, 624 MHz Marvell PXA300 CPU, and a microSD memory card slot. Size wise, the Mivvy one measures 105×56×12.9 mm and has a weight of 120 grams.

What’s interesting about it is the fact that Mivvy used its own UI rather than WinMo’s generic one, in an effort to make the device easier to use. It’s interesting because this usually happens with larger handset makers, and it’s good to see smaller players taking this route, too. As for the price and release date, the Mivvy one will start selling soon in the Czech Republic, where interested folks will be able to grab it for 6699 CZK, which is about $380. Earlier this year, Mivvy launched three dual-SIM feature

Apple has approved a streaming music application from Spotify for use on the iPhone, even though the program will compete with Apple’s own iTunes service. Rumors have circled in recent weeks that the app had been denied. Spotify is an advertising-supported music service that lets end-users stream music to their computers free of charge. The service is available in the U.K. and by invitation in countries including Sweden, Norway, Finland, France and Spain. Users can opt to pay for a version of the service without ads. The iPhone offering will be available “soon” in those six countries, Spotify spokesman Jim Butcher said on Thursday. The company hopes to launch a PC-based equivalent in the U.S. early next year but has no current plans to offer the service there on phones, he said.

IPhone fans have been closely watching Spotify’s progress because Apple may consider it a competitor to its iTunes music store. Apple, which has never fully laid out its policy for accepting applications, has denied applications that it says duplicate existing phone functionality. For instance, the developer of Podcaster said Apple declined to include that application in the store because it duplicates the podcast functionality in iTunes. While controversy has surrounded the approval process since the App Store first launched, the issue is particularly important now because the U.S. Federal Communications Commission is investigating the mobile-phone industry. Earlier this month, the agency asked Google, Apple and AT&T to answer questions about how and why the Google Voice application was recently denied by Apple for the iPhone

China Telecom is in talks with Palm about offering the Pre smartphone in China, intensifying the race between Chinese carriers to win 3G users by offering attractive handsets. China Telecom is also talking with Palm about offering other handsets and is still in talks with Research In Motion (RIM) about offering a version of the BlackBerry, an investor relations representative said Friday. The move adds to efforts by China Telecom and its rivals to offer fashionable 3G handsets from Western companies. Local carrier China Unicom said Friday it had reached a 3-year deal with Apple to offer the iPhone in China, and China Mobile, the world’s largest carrier by subscribers, appears set to launch a Dell smartphone. A device called the Dell mini3i is listed beside handsets supported by China Mobile’s new application download store.

China Telecom knows it needs good handsets to attract more 3G users, the representative said. Nokia also plans to launch a 3G handset with China Telecom this year, and Motorola may launch two, she said. China’s carriers are also moving toward offering low-priced handsets to attract 3G subscribers. China Telecom and its distributors have ordered 4 million 3G phones from handset makers to sell in China, and most will be priced between 500 yuan (US$73) and 1,000 yuan, the company representative said. The phones will have low prices because 3G services are popular among college students and other young people with low income, she said

Motorola A45 Murano

Posted by Mobile Buzz 0 comments

Motorola A45 Murano has been officially announced in Brazil as MOTOCUBO A45. The name makes perfect sense considering the device look and feel. Still, it offers the full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and is hence ideal for heavy texters.

Rest of the specs include EDGE connectivity, QVGA screen, Bluetooth, music player, standard 3.5mm headset jack, 2-megapixel camera, FM Radio with RDS, and a microSD expansion slot (2GB card memory card comes in the box). Pre-loaded software includes Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Maps, some games (Spore, The Sims 2), and a social networking app that allows quick access to Facebook, Orkut and MySpace……

Most notable thing about the MOTOCUBO is the fact that the 25% of the phone is made out of recycled plastic bottles, making it an ideal choice for eco-friendly texters… At least those who are willing to pay 549 Brazil reais (about $293) in order to grab one.
